Patterns of Conceptual Product Designs for Human Communication within Multifunctional Teams in a Concurrent Engineering Environment
نویسندگان
چکیده
Successful modelling and design of industrial products require excellent communication within a multifunctional team, working in a concurrent engineering environment. Lack of a common vocabulary expressing design decisions leads to bad comprehension and insight. Through the use of patterns we are able to describe design decisions consisting of composition of objects and provide an extension of the existing design vocabulary supporting better human communication with leading to a base for design automatisation.

An Integrated Methodological Framework for Project Task Coordination and Team Organization in Concurrent Engineering
Complex products or projects with long development times always involve multiple disciplines and a great deal of effort. Especially in concurrent engineering, the design needs to simultaneously consider various downstream activities throughout the entire product life cycle. To accomplish this, tasks in the concurrent engineering environment generally involve multifunctional teams in which team ...
متن کاملModeling and Implementing Concurrent Engineering in a Virtual Collaborative Environment
Many companies are creating mterdisciplmary concurrent engineering teams to collaborate on product development projects from dispersed locations. The problems these companies face stem from the lack of understanding of technical, organizational, and procedural requirements for such activities to take place effectively. This paper proposes an integrated conceptual model of the product life cycle...
متن کاملA Hybrid Agent Approach for Set-based Conceptual Ship Design
Advanced marine design, particularly in the United States, advocates the use of cross-functional design teams, or Integrated Product Teams (IPT’s), who will undertake a concurrent engineering approach to all phases of ship design. Further, the study of the world-class Toyota automotive design process has highlighted the potential of a set-based design approach in concurrent engineering to provi...

This document introduces the main concepts of Collaborative Engineering as a new methodology, procedures and tools to design and develop an aircraft, as Airbus Military is implementing. Airbus designs and industrializes aircrafts under Concurrent Engineering techniques since decades with success. The introduction of new PLM methodologies, procedures and tools, mainly in the industrialization ar...
متن کاملTraceability between Cross-Functional-Teams
Traceability between different views, which exist in cross-functional teams, is essential for concurrent engineering. The views (products) of the various teams must be interrelated to each other and presented in a suitable way to emphasize inconsistencies, conflicts, different opportunities. Moreover, decisions together with their rationales must be made explicit. We have developed and implemen...
